Der FSC ist eine internationale Non-Profit-Organisation und steht für die Förderung einer umweltfreundlichen, sozialförderlichen und ökonomischen Bewirtschaftung von Wäldern – und das weltweit.The FSC is an international non-profit organisation standing for the worldwide promotion of environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economical forest management.
The FSC label on a wood or paper product is a clear indicator for the fact that the product originates from responsible forestry. Products bearing the FSC label safeguard the use of the forests in accordance with the social, economical and ecological requirements of present and future generations.
The basic concept is an integrated process, which also comprises the COC (chain of custody), the supply chain: There are 10 globally applicable, transnational principles and 56 criteria, on which the national FSC standards for forest management are based. Forests managed in accordance with these standards can apply for the FSC certification. Consumers buying FSC-labelled products make an active contribution to sustainable forest management all over the world.
