
WENKO WENSELAAR GmbH & Co. KG was founded at the end of the fifties and began its success story with innovative ironing board covers, which at that time were a blessing and have now become a must for any modern housewife. From the very beginning, they were sold by classical stores and also by way of the mail order trade, in which WENKO today plays a leading role in Europe.
After the present owner, Hanns-Joachim Köllner, took over the sole leadership of the company in 1968, he began very quickly with the expansion of the product range. Practical aids and various accessories for the household and kitchen were developed and introduced in addition to more ironing accessories. These were sold with great and permanent success, not only in the mail order trade, but also in conventional localised stores.
More than hundreds of patents and trademarks are showing the high innovative capacity that is having a trendsetting influence on many product areas. WENKO products are characterised by their high benefit for the user, a fair price-performance ratio and generally also by their uniqueness as opposed to conventional products.
At the beginning of the new millennium, the bathroom product range was extensively expanded and now has a leading market position with its versatile designs and practical application options.
Today, WENKO has three strong mainstays: firstly the mail order business, which has a separate and extensive range of many practical household products in the fields of garden, wellness, health and "Do it yourself". Secondly the trade with the two fields of bathroom and household/kitchen.
The third mainstay, apart from the strong position on the domestic German market, is export. WENKO can look forward to independent development and good business, and is now in addition successfully positioned with subsidiaries in Spain and France.
The WENKO family company has remained true to its philosophy until today: innovations, creative and useful ideas that make life more comfortable determine the self-conception of the company. WENKO cheerfully faces up to the challenges of the future with a workforce of more than 300 in Germany.
